COVID COWBOYS

In the summer of 2021, the Finnish men's national football team played in a major tournament for the first time. Two of Finland's matches were played in Saint Petersburg, which was simultaneously ravaged by a fiercely contagious new variant of Covid-19. Despite the government's recommendation for everyone to stay home, thousands of Huuhkaja (Finnish national team) fans, ignoring the advice, traveled to the metropolis. The documentary "Covid Cowboys" now tells the story of these supporters and the aftermath of the events, weighing the historic dream of generations on one side and personal and loved ones' health on the other.
